Welcome to the money pig blog…money saving and living frugally.

Welcome to the money pig blog! This blog is going to follow my battle through the credit crunch. I hope to be able to share any tips and stories along the way that hopefully might help others too. At the moment, a lot of people are trying to live as frugally as physically possible in order to get them through these tough times. This doesn’t always mean that you have to go without, but can be achieved by buying everything as cheaply as possible and also subscribing the make do and mend philosophy if you feel the need.

As this blog will be following myself, I need to fill you in a bit on my situation. I currently work in an office job and don’t have a particularly low wage but its less than the UK average. I do have debts to family and this does take a chunk out of my wages and is likely to for the next few years. I am also moving house in January. For this reason I feel the need to live frugally and save money wherever possible to make my remaining money go as far as possible during these tough times. I am going to talk about how I make bits of extra cash here and there, as well as how I save myself money.

Today I have been intrigued by the story of a guy called Mark who was featured on BBC news this morning. He is planning to live for a year without spending a penny. He has set himself a caravan home for the year and has plans for obtaining food etc. His blog is definitely worth a read, shows you that living frugally can be done to the biggest extreme!
